Nareto Community Conservancy take a responsibility in sustainable management of natural resources to protect and preserve the delicate balance of ecosystems for current and future times. These efforts aim to safeguard the Earth’s health by mitigating the impact of human activities on the environment. The goal is to create a harmonious coexistence between humans and the environment, ensuring the well-being of both while maintaining the planet’s ecological integrity and promoting a sustainable future for all living organisms.
Our Approches
Recognizing the paramount importance of soil health, the conservancy employs sustainable soil conservation practices to prevent erosion, maintain soil fertility, and safeguard the delicate balance of the ecosystem. This is by banning sand harvesting in river beds and charcoal burning, construction of small water pans to reduce flowing water speed during rainy seasons and planting of grass and trees.
The Conservancy has a vital plan to Operate nurseries for indigenous tree species, this is to make sure the Conservancy's goals align with nation and global initiatives of combating climate change, global warming and greenhouse effect. This will assist in nurturing and planting trees, fostering a thriving environment for a wide vegetation cover of flora and fauna while preserving the region's natural heritage.
In a concerted effort to address and eradicate the encroachment of invasive species such as Opuntia Stricta (cactus) and efforts to increase the Conservancy's land cover facility through capacity building, the conservancy is committed to preserving the integrity of indigenous flora and fauna.
Embracing the crucial role of trees in ecological balance, the conservancy actively participates in tree planting initiatives like National tree planting day in Kenya. to combat deforestation, mitigate climate change, and restore vital green cover to the landscape
Through the implementation of sustainable water management practices, by allowing both domestic and wildlife share constructed dams water points to quench their thirst; the conservancy ensures equitable access to water resources for both wildlife and local communities, thereby fostering a thriving, sustainable environment.
Raising awareness and promoting environmental education to inform individuals and communities about the importance of conservation, sustainable practices and involving local communities in conservation efforts, considering their knowledge, needs, and concerns, which can lead to more effective and sustainable outcomes.
